Bose Closed Turtle

English name: McCords Box Turtle
Common name: Roundback Box Turtle
Origin and production period: This unique species is native to the southeastern region of the United States, particularly found in areas with sandy soils and dense underbrush. It has been present in its natural habitat for centuries, making it a long-standing part of the local ecosystem.

Introduction:
The adult carapace of the McCords Box Turtle is typically red-brown in color, with a more pronounced upward curve compared to other box turtles. The shell can grow up to approximately 130mm in length, and it features a low red ridge running along the middle. The plastron, or the bottom shell, is yellow with a dark spot that covers most of its surface. The plastron is connected to both the front and back halves by flexible ligaments, allowing the turtle to fully close its shell for protection against predators.

The forelimbs are covered in large, distinct scales, while the hind limbs have a more rugged, scaly texture. Their toes are often described as "paralyzed" due to their limited mobility, which is a characteristic feature of this species. The head is bright yellow, with an orange-yellow border surrounding the eyes and mouth, lined with black markings that give it a striking appearance.

This species is not only visually unique but also plays an important role in its environment. Due to habitat loss and collection for the pet trade, the McCords Box Turtle is considered vulnerable in some regions. Conservation efforts are underway to protect this remarkable reptile and ensure its survival for future generations.
