Tips and Methods for Rapid Weight Gain in Pigs

Pig fattening techniques involve various methods to improve growth rates and feed efficiency. One approach is using pig blood for fattening: collect fresh, healthy pig blood (or from slaughtered pigs), add 5 ml of sodium antimony tartrate per 100 ml of blood, and store it at 2–10°C. Administering 2 kg of blood per kilogram of body weight every 7 days can significantly boost pig growth, especially for undernourished or stiff pigs. Another method is brushing the pig’s body daily with a bristled brush for 10–20 minutes. This simple practice, when combined with regular feeding and management, can increase weight gain by 7.2% to 11.4%. Lysine supplementation is also effective—adding 1–3 kg of lysine per ton of feed increases daily weight gain by 15–25% and reduces feed consumption by 15–20%. Similarly, powdered fertilizer like lotus root can be used: pigs under 25 kg receive 10 grams daily, those over 25 kg get 25 grams, and pigs over 50 kg get 50 grams. Fermented blood meal is another option. Adding 3–10% of fermented blood meal to the diet allows pigs to reach 100 kg in about 73 days while cutting feed costs by approximately 20%. Egg white injections are also used to promote weight gain. Inject 5–10 ml of fresh egg white into the thyroid or submandibular glands of 50 kg pigs, repeating every 5–7 days with an increased dose. After injection, pigs tend to sleep more and move less, indicating success. Feeding easily digestible, nutrient-rich feed for two weeks to a month can result in an average weight gain of 0.5 kg or more above normal. Olaquindox, an antibacterial growth promoter, can increase daily weight gain by 10–15% and reduce feed costs by 8–10%. It should be added at a rate of 5 grams per 100 kg of feed, or 5/100,000, with a total of 8.3 grams per pig from 10 to 60 kg. Triacontanol is particularly effective for middle-weight pigs (40–50 kg), improving daily gain by 0.5–1.2 kg. Intramuscular injections of tetradecyl alcohol can boost gains by 24–35%. The method involves dissolving 25 g of 80% triacontanol powder in 500 ml distilled water, sterilizing it, and injecting 1 ml per 10 kg of body weight every 25 days, stopping 4 weeks before slaughter. These methods offer practical and effective ways to enhance pig growth, optimize feed use, and improve overall productivity on the farm.
