Main Vegetable Fertilization Formulas
1. Cucumber. Cucumbers are high-yield vegetables with a long fruiting period, requiring consistent nutrient supply throughout their growth cycle. Timely top-dressing is essential. For every 1,000 kg of cucumber produced, the crop needs approximately 2.6 kg of pure nitrogen, 1.5 kg of phosphorus pentoxide, and 3.5 kg of potassium oxide. Before planting, apply 5,000 to 7,500 kg of high-quality organic fertilizer along with 25 to 30 kg of phosphate fertilizer as a base. During the first fruiting stage, apply 10 to 15 kg of nitrogen fertilizer and 15 to 20 kg of phosphorus and potassium fertilizers. After that, apply fertilizer every 7 to 10 days, combined with irrigation. Throughout the growing season, this process should be repeated 8 to 10 times. You can also use a foliar spray of 0.3% concentration with pesticides or growth regulators like Bao, Zenggualing, and Fengguo for better results.
2. Tomato. For every 1,000 kg of tomatoes, about 3.85 kg of pure nitrogen, 1.2 kg of phosphorus pentoxide, and 4.4 kg of potassium chloride are needed. Before planting, apply 5,000 kg of quality farmyard manure and 50 kg of phosphate fertilizer as a base. When the first fruit cluster reaches the size of a hen’s egg, perform the first top-dressing. Apply 18 to 20 kg of nitrogen, 15 to 16 kg of phosphate, and 16 to 17 kg of potassium. Repeat this process for the second and third fruit clusters. When the fourth fruit cluster begins to grow, increase the amount of fertilizer slightly and combine it with watering. A 0.35% solution of chemical fertilizer mixed with disease control agents can also be sprayed on the leaves. Growth enhancers like Set Fruit Ling and Fengguo can also be used in combination with spraying.
3. Chili Pepper. To produce 1,000 kg of chili peppers, you need around 5.2 kg of pure nitrogen, 1.2 kg of phosphorus pentoxide, and 6.5 kg of potassium chloride. Before planting, apply 5,000 kg of high-quality farmyard manure and 50 kg of phosphate fertilizer as a base. When the first fruit starts to expand, begin the first top-dressing to promote fruit development. Apply 15 to 18 kg of nitrogen, 18 to 20 kg of phosphate, and 15 to 17 kg of potassium. As more fruit layers develop, gradually increase the fertilizer amount each time. Combine each application with watering to ensure even distribution. A foliar spray of 0.3% concentration, including fruit enhancers like Pepper Spirit, can also be used for better growth and yield.
4. Celery. For every 1,000 kg of celery, you need about 2 kg of nitrogen, 1 kg of phosphorus pentoxide, and 4 kg of potassium chloride. Before planting, apply 5,000 kg of high-quality organic fertilizer and 40 kg of phosphate fertilizer as a base. Once the plants reach 10 cm in height, start the first top-dressing with 7 to 10 kg of nitrogen and 10 to 15 kg of potassium. During the vigorous growth phase, apply fertilizer every 7 to 10 days, totaling 3 to 4 applications. Each time, use 15 to 20 kg of nitrogen, 10 to 20 kg of phosphate, and 20 to 25 kg of potassium. Always combine top-dressing with watering. A 0.3% foliar spray with Shi Bao can also be used for disease prevention and improved growth.
5. Spinach. Spinach requires careful fertilization, especially during winter when it grows slowly. For every 1,000 kg of spinach, you need about 1.6 kg of pure nitrogen, 0.83 kg of phosphorus pentoxide, and 1.8 kg of potassium oxide. Before planting, apply 5,000 kg of high-quality organic fertilizer and 40 kg of phosphate fertilizer as a base. Ensuring sufficient base fertilizer and strong seedling growth is crucial for successful overwintering. Before winter, the seedlings should be about 10 cm tall. If needed, apply an overwintering top-dressing of 10 to 15 kg of nitrogen and 10 to 15 kg of phosphate. Water thoroughly before winter to prevent freezing. In early spring, apply 20 to 25 kg of nitrogen and 15 to 20 kg of phosphorus and potassium every 10 to 15 days. Avoid applying fertilizer directly to the center of the plant to prevent seedling burn. A 0.3% foliar fertilizer can also be used for additional nutrition. The fertilization methods for spring and autumn spinach are similar to those used in winter.
