Seedlings of vegetable seedlings in early spring must be seen three times

In early spring, from late February to March, protected cultivation of solanaceous and melon vegetables is carried out. Seedlings are transplanted using mulching techniques, typically between late March and April. However, during this period, temperatures remain low, sunlight is limited, and frost can occur, all of which can negatively impact the quality of the transplanted seedlings. Therefore, careful attention must be given to three key aspects when transplanting in early spring. First, it's essential to time the transplanting of solanaceous and melon vegetable seedlings properly. It should be done during the "cold tail warmer" period—when the temperature starts to rise slightly—to avoid frost damage and ensure earlier growth. Transplanting should take place on a sunny morning. The best practice is to plant the seedlings immediately after digging them up to minimize stress. If the weather is unfavorable, even if the seedlings appear strong, they should not be transplanted, as this could compromise their establishment. Second, the soil should be neither too wet nor too dry when transplanting eggplant and melon seedlings. A balanced moisture level helps the seedlings adapt better. After transplanting, mulch should be applied to maintain warmth and moisture. The day before transplanting, seedlings or those in nutrient pots should be watered thoroughly to make the process easier and reduce root damage. Even if the seedlings are mature, proper planting must be done with attention to soil conditions, ensuring the right balance of dryness and moisture. Third, only strong, healthy seedlings should be selected for transplanting. These seedlings should be resistant to cold and night frosts, and capable of rapid growth. Before transplanting, seedlings should be acclimated gradually to the new environment. They should be well-watered, fertilized, and kept in good condition to promote vigorous growth. If the seedlings are weak, even under favorable conditions, it’s better to delay transplanting to prevent them from becoming stunted or damaged, which could ultimately affect the final yield.
