Based on this, the optimal periods for prevention and treatment were scheduled as follows: the first window from June 27 to July 2, and the second window from July 8 to July 13. These timings are crucial to ensure effective control before the larvae cause extensive damage.

Third, the agents and methods for prevention and control

1. During the heart leaf stage of summer corn, apply a mixture of corn snacks or earthworms with soil through foliar spraying. This method helps to target the pests directly and reduce their population effectively. 2. Use Kono special killing agent at a dosage of 50 grams mixed with two bags of water (equivalent to 100 pounds). Apply it evenly by spraying the entire plant, focusing on the heart leaves and tassels. This treatment also helps in controlling other pests like aphids. 3. For late-sown spring corn, apply a well-proportioned mixture of the special killing agent and spray it uniformly on the female ears, the upper and middle parts of the leaf sheaths, and the corn sheath. This approach is particularly effective against corn sheath blight and other related diseases. By following these strategies, farmers can significantly reduce the impact of the corn borer and protect their crops from serious damage.
