The Fourth National Census of Chinese Medicine Resources will start to monitor

The reporter learned yesterday from the China Pharmacy Conference 2011 and the 11th China Pharmacist Week held in Yantai, Shandong Province that in order to understand the resources of Chinese medicine, China will launch a fourth national survey of Chinese herbal resources, and some provinces will be within this month. One after another began the census pilot work.

Wang Guoqiang, deputy director of the Ministry of Health and director of the State Administration of Traditional Chinese Medicine, said that the preparations for the national survey of traditional Chinese medicine resources have progressed smoothly, and six provinces (regions) including Anhui, Hubei, Hunan, Sichuan, Yunnan, and Xinjiang are about to start trials for the entire country. Accumulation of experience and exploration paths in the census of traditional Chinese medicine resources.

It is understood that the national census of traditional Chinese medicine resources has been conducted three times before. The third national census of traditional Chinese medicine resources began in 1983 and ended in 1987. Through the census, it has been confirmed that there are more than 12,000 kinds of Chinese medicine resources in China, and the total reserves of wild medicinal materials are 8.5 million tons, and the annual output of domestic medicinal herbs reaches more than 300,000 tons.

Huang Yuqi, deputy head of the China Academy of Chinese Medical Sciences, said that due to the lapse of more than 20 years, Chinese medicine resources are likely to have changed. The fourth national survey of traditional Chinese medicine resources will help us fully grasp the situation of China's traditional Chinese medicine resources, put forward the overall plan for the management, protection and development and utilization of Chinese herbal medicine resources, and establish a dynamic monitoring mechanism for traditional Chinese medicine resources.
