How to raise broilers in summer

Because the chicken body itself does not have sweat glands, the heat generated in the body can only rely on heat to breathe, so the summer heat season can easily cause the chicken's stress response - heat stress. At a minimum, the feed intake of the chicken is reduced, the growth is retarded or stagnated, the resistance to disease is reduced, and the rate of death scouring is increased. In severe cases, large numbers of deaths can result and serious economic losses can result. Therefore, the key to raising a good broiler in the summer is to do a good job in preventing heatstroke: 1. Transform the chicken house. One is in the hen house, about 2 meters from the chicken body, with a 1.5-2.5 cm thick white foam panel as a ceiling, because the white foam board can insulate and separate a lot of hot air on the ceiling. The temperature in the house can be lowered by 2-3 degrees. The second is to cover the outside of the house with a layer of straw or wheat straw about 10 cm, sprinkle with cool water, and keep it moist for a long time, which can prevent a large amount of heat from passing into the house. 2, reduce the density. The suitable density of flat-raised broilers in summer is 30-25 per square meter for 1-2 weeks of age, 25-15 per square meter for 3-4 weeks of age, and 5-15 per square meter for 5-8 weeks of age. 250-300 per group is appropriate. 3, adjust the diet. In the high temperature environment in summer, the feed intake of broilers will be reduced to varying degrees. It was determined that when the temperature in the house exceeds 30 degrees, the feed intake of the chicken will decrease by 10% to 25% for every 1 degree increase in temperature. In order to meet the nutritional needs of chickens, energy diets in the diet can be appropriately reduced to increase protein content. At the same time, increase the supply of vitamins and minerals to meet the growth and development of chickens. 4, ensure drinking water. Water is an indispensable and important material for the maintenance of life. In the summer, broilers’ breathing, drinking and excretion have increased significantly. Therefore, sufficient water must be provided, enough sinks or drinking fountains should be provided, and they must be changed frequently to ensure that the drinking water is cool and hygienic. 5, strengthen ventilation. The main method is to increase the ventilation fan and exhaust volume, change the horizontal ventilation to longitudinal tunnel ventilation, increase the wind speed flowing through the chicken body, and promptly take away the heat generated by the chicken body. 6, spray cooling. The specific method is to spray the cool water that has just been shot out of the deep well with a sprayer to spray the space in the house after 12:00 noon every day during the summer season. Usually, the temperature can be reduced by 3-6 degrees. The number of sprays per day is preferably every 2-4 hours. 7, with chicken disinfection. The method is similar to spray cooling, and a broad-spectrum, high-efficiency, non-toxic, and side-effect disinfectant should be selected. And to prepare more than two kinds of disinfectants to use alternately. Generally, it is advisable to sterilize one to two times per week. When the temperature is too high, it can be performed 1-2 times per day. 8, add drugs. Tests have shown that some drugs have a good effect on reducing heat stress in chickens. For example, when 200 mg of vitamin C is added per kilogram of feed, the growth rate of broilers is the highest, and the death rate from heat stress is the lowest. Another example is the addition of 1% ammonium chloride or 0.5% baking soda to the feed, which not only reduces the heat-induced mortality but also increases the weight by 9%. 9, change the method of feeding. Due to the effects of high temperatures, the feed intake of chickens is often insufficient. Therefore, high temperatures can be avoided and supplemented by feeding at night and in the morning. 10, changing padding. In summer, due to the disinfection and spray cooling, the humidity and litter humidity in the chicken house are too high, which not only facilitates the breeding of bacteria and parasites, but also generates a large amount of harmful gases that endanger the health of the chicken body. Therefore, it is necessary to keep the litter soft and dry to prevent humidity. If it is too large, the humidity of the summer litter should be controlled at about 18%. 11, prevent diseases. In summer, when the temperature is high and humidity is high, pathogens are susceptible to a large number of births. Therefore, in addition to regular epidemic prevention, special attention should be paid to preventing and treating gastrointestinal and respiratory diseases in chickens, and preventive medicines should be regularly used. 12, add electrolytes. In summer, with the increase of the amount of chicken drinking water, the amount of diarrhea is also greatly increased, which can easily lead to the loss of large amounts of electrolytes in the chicken body. Therefore, vitamins and electrolytes can be added to their drinking water in an appropriate amount. 13. Emergency measures. In the event of heat stress, broilers should be quickly removed from the high-temperature environment, placed in a cool, ventilated place, orally with Huoxiangzhengqi water (pill), and rubbed the body with cold water. 14, cut off the feathers. For a small number of broiler chickens raised by farmers, the method of cutting off feathers can also reduce heat stress in high temperature season. The specific method is to remove the feathers of the broilers from the feathers of the tail feathers and wings, and remove all other feathers so as to facilitate rapid heat dissipation of the chicken body.
